Changing customs brokers for your business
Plan the transition around your next shipment and the records you already have. Request a quote with the reason for the change, upcoming movements and any unresolved documentation questions.
Define what needs to improve
Describe the issue in practical terms: unanswered questions, document visibility, shipment coordination or billing clarity. State which services and customs offices need continuity, and name the people responsible for the handover.
Review authorizations before the next movement
SAT publishes guidance for managing the encargo conferido (authorization to act for the importer). Include the current authorization setup in the transition review and agree who will confirm each change.

Review the existing file
Keep prior pedimentos (customs declarations), invoice references and unresolved shipment records available. Discuss an audit of selected past declarations and, for temporary imports, how records will stay consistent through the change.
- Identify shipments in transit and document requests still open.
- Agree which records are reviewed and who retains the originals.
- Separate the transition plan from any proposed correction of past filings.
